In a far distant corner of the universe, unexplored by any other race to this day, the Lords of Darkness dwelt, oldest of all races they had charted all the known corridors of hyperspace eons before life have developed anywhere else. After millennia alone they decided to have some fun so seeded various sectors of the universe far from their home systems with life to see what would happen, how would these life forms fair, would they survive or would they fail? Once the seeding had been completed the Lords of Darkness decided to retire to their own sector to wait the eons that it would take for life to develop. During their wait they were not idle, they developed their technology further and further, eventually developing new methods of space travel allowing them to travel across the span of the universe in a matter of hours rather than weeks. Their scientists were also turning towards inter-dimensional travel. Multi-dimensions had long been known to these beings, and their science had already developed methods of viewing these other dimensions at will but physical travel had been unavailable to them. Then one day their scientists finally managed to develop a working dimensional-shift drive and the leaders decided it was again time sow the seeds of more fun. As their technology had shown most of the multi-verses were also unpopulated so they sent out settlers into these other dimensions and started their experiments over and over in each new dimension, always continuing contact with their home-dimension so that each colony could compare research notes on how their particular experiments were doing, what flourished, what perished and over time refined their technique After countless eons had passed the experiments in their home-dimension started to develop space travel themselves, once the nano-sensors the Lords of Darkness had placed along the hyperspace lanes started detecting these races the Lords of Darkness decided it was time to test their theories, they announced themselves to some races and offered advanced technology pretending to be benevolent and only interested in peaceful co-operation, other races they went among them in secret fermenting dissent and war. |
